Redfern and North Eveleigh Precinct Renewal

Project overview

The NSW Government owns around 10 hectares of land along the rail line south of Redfern Station. Well-connected by public transport, with an existing rich history and character, the precinct has the potential to be a vibrant place for the community.

Key benefits

Transport for NSW and Infrastructure NSW are investigating opportunities to renew the Redfern and North Eveleigh Precinct. This could:

  • Provide new public spaces and community facilities
  • Upgrade Redfern Station
  • Improve walking and cycling connections
  • Help make Redfern and North Eveleigh a centre of technology and innovation in Australia.

Redfern and North Eveleigh is part of the Sydney Innovation and Technology Precinct, hosting innovation-focussed enterprises that have the potential to create the jobs of the future. Transport for NSW and Infrastructure NSW will work closely with NSW Treasury to ensure that planning of the Redfern and North Eveleigh Precinct is coordinated with planning for the innovation precinct to ensure the optimum place outcomes.

Project status

Transport for NSW is planning how the wider precinct can be renewed. This will build on previous consultation and studies and could include further improvements to Redfern Station.
