Rydalmere Wharf

Rydalmere Wharf will open on Wednesday 20 March.

F3 Parramatta River ferry services will resume from 6.19am on Wednesday 20 March from Rydalmere Wharf. The temporary bus service, route 535, to Sydney Olympic Park Wharf will no longer operate.

The upgrade is part of the major progressive upgrade of ferry wharves across Sydney Harbour which aims to improve Sydney’s ferry services for customers, delivering accessible, safe, and comfortable public transport infrastructure. New and upgraded wharves are being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program.

The upgraded wharf is designed to provide customers with an improved public transport experience. The wharf will include a new floating pontoon connected to land by a new aluminium gangway. The new pontoon will have a curved roof, seating and glass weather protection panels. All existing wharf structure will be removed and the existing waiting shelter on the foreshore will remain.

Wider accessible paths with textured surfaces will be provided to slow down cyclists close to the wharf entry and exit.

The turning circle area will be upgraded to provide designated zones for shuttle buses and kiss and ride parking. Existing bike lockers will remain and new bike racks will be installed.

The upgrade will provide:

• protection from the wind, rain and sun
• improved seating and waiting areas
• improved access for mobility impaired customers and customers with prams
• improved access around the interchange
• more efficient ferry boarding and disembarking
• effective wayfinding signage and lighting.

Rydalmere Wharf will be closed during construction and alternative transport will be provided. Customers will be able to catch a temporary bus service, route 535, to Sydney Olympic Park Wharf, which will connect with F3 Parramatta River ferry services. The temporary bus service will operate between Parramatta Wharf and Sydney Olympic Park via South Street, Rydalmere.

Customers travelling to or from the city can also catch existing train services on the T1 Western Line or existing bus services on route M52 from Parramatta to Circular Quay via Victoria Road.

Initial consultation for the Rydalmere Wharf upgrade was carried out in 2016. The feedback received has helped us to understand our customers’ views about the current facilities and priorities for improvement.

The Review of Environmental Factors for the project was on display for community comment in April and May 2018.
