Oct 2020 - Essential maintenance update

The NSW Government is investing in this essential maintenance work to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the bridge. Transport for NSW will carry out work which includes replacing timber truss elements and repainting of the bridge.

Maintenance work will continue on Morpeth Bridge from on Monday 19 October.

For more information please download our May 2020 project notification (PDF, 64Kb).

We will be working between 6am and 5pm from Monday to Thursday and expect to complete the work in seven months, weather permitting.

Temporary lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours and may affect travel times. The lane closures will occur Monday to Thursday between 9am to 5pm.

Work will also be undertaken from a barge under the bridge with part of the river closed to marine traffic and a 4 knot speed restriction in place.

The bridge will be closed for two nights, a week apart later in the project, with detours in place. This is likely to occur in early 2021 and we will provide you with more information prior to this night work and bridge closure occurring.
