Project overview

A new substation was built at Lindfield to increase the power supply along the North Shore Line, allowing for more frequent trains.

Key benefits

  • Anti-vandal and anti-graffiti measure to secure the building

A new substation was built at Lindfield to increase the power supply along the North Shore Line, allowing for more frequent trains.

Two new rail traction power transformers are enclosed within the new substation building and overhead wiring, signalling and communication cables have been realigned.

Documents prepared for the project were on public display, including a review of environmental factors such as noise and vibration and the impact on flora and fauna.

The Determination Report includes an overview of the submissions received and the Transport for NSW response to issues raised. Related documents are available for download.

Project status

The project was completed in January 2017 and Sydney Trains are using the substation to supply power to the North Shore Line.
