Project information

Background

Mamre Road is an important transport corridor in Western Sydney and is a key connector to the Western Sydney Airport Precinct. Development and economic growth in the area mean the community needs an improved road network to meet future traffic demands. The Australian and NSW governments have jointly committed $500 million each in funding to deliver this upgrade.

Construction is expected to start in early 2027 and be open to traffic in late 2029

Key features

The Mamre Road upgrade from Erskine Park Road, Erskine Park to Kerrs Road, Kemps Creek is a 6.1-kilometre upgrade.

Key features of the project include:

  • Upgrades to two existing intersections (James Erskine Drive and Bakers Lane)
  • Upgrades to two future intersections (Abbotts Road and Aspect Industrial Estate)
  • Road widening
  • Shared user path on eastern side of the carriageway
  • Footpath on western side of carriageway

Key benefits

The project will deliver:

  • improved road capacity to cater for growth in the area
  • reduced congestion during peak travel times
  • improved road safety and active transport access
  • better connectivity between the M4 Motorway in the north and Elizabeth Drive in the south.

What we have done so far

To prepare for the release of the project’s REF, we have:

  • investigated ground conditions, biodiversity and surveyed the land for cultural heritage
  • identified underground utilities
  • met with property owners and businesses in the area about our progress and upcoming land acquisition
  • attended project information sessions to connect with community from the Kemps Creek area.

Next steps

The NSW Government is working towards completing the concept design and REF for the Mamre Road upgrade between Erskine Park Road, Erskine Park and Kerrs Road, Kemps Creek. The project expects to release the REF report this year, at which point the community will be invited to submit feedback for consideration.
