Background
The upgrade is part of the major progressive upgrade of ferry wharves across Sydney Harbour which aims to improve Sydney’s ferry services for customers, delivering accessible, safe and comfortable public transport infrastructure. New and upgraded wharfs are being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program.
Clarke Road Wharf
In response to community feedback during the display of the Review of Environmental Factors ferry services will be temporarily relocated to Clarke Road Wharf.
For more information about Clarke Road Wharf view or download our April 2020 community notification (PDF, 420Kb).

The new Woolwich Wharf
The new wharf provides customers with an improved public transport experience. The new wharf includes a floating pontoon connected to land by an uncovered gangway and entry bridge.
The pontoon has a curved roof, seating and glass weather protection panels. All existing wharf structures have been removed.
Some of the land surrounding the wharf has also been upgraded to improve customer facilities and meet accessibility requirements. The waiting shelter and toilet has been refurbished and accessible paths to the wharf have been provided. The footpath has been raised and three accessible parking spaces have been realigned. Two kiss and ride parking spaces and new bicycle parking hoops near the wharf entry have also been provided.
Temporary bus route
Customers will be able to catch a temporary bus service, route 537, operating in a loop between Hunters Hill and Woolwich, to connect with the F8 Cockatoo Island ferry services.
This bus service is in addition to the existing bus services in the area. Customers are encouraged to plan their trip by visiting transport.nsw.info or calling 131 500 before starting their journey.
