Creative placemaking initiatives celebrate the inherent interplay between culture and location. These place-based, citizen-led, and multi-disciplinary programs shine a light on the value of our great public spaces and the stories that enrich them and bind us together.

reVITALise 2023 - Glen Innes Railway Station

In collaboration with Glen Innes Severn Council, reVITALise is supporting creative placemaking in the heart of the Glen Innes community.

Dance Locale

Watch five films celebrating the beauty and diversity of public space and the dynamic relationship between culture and space. Choreographed and performed by the Sydney Dance Company. 

Summer Night Walks

Tim Ross invites leading thinkers, artists, comedians, performers and public figures to take him on a ‘Summer Night Walk’ to a special place in their neighbourhoods. Watch the first episode.

reVITALise 2023 Creative Lighting

The reVITALise program is a series of state-wide collaborative and community-driven demonstration projects to trial creative interventions that support long term best-practice placemaking and attachment to place.

Greener Wilder West

Take a break and reconnect to nature in one of the multi-sensory walks, workshops or activities as Western Sydney Parklands come alive with participatory science, art, and nature experiences for all ages.

Way Out West

Part of The Festival of Place, WOW delivered a wide range of arts, cultural events and activities suitable for children, young people, families, and people of all abilities.

The Big Picture Fest - Newcastle

This internationally-recognised 3-day street art festival brought together world class artists to showcase their work alongside exceptional local talent.  

Public Space Ideas Competition

The competition aimed to shape a new conversation about public space in Sydney. Delivered in partnership with the Committee for Sydney. 

Make Music Day

We partnered with Create NSW and offered Small Project Grants of $15,000 specifically to support events or activities celebrating Make Music Day and the power of music in the public realm.

Sydney Square Dance

Across Darling Harbour and The Rocks public spaces were energised through epic dance performances and interactive classes during the Sydney Square Dance as we emerged from the pandemic and dancing indoors was not permitted.

FUNPARK

Bidwill Square was transformed into an outdoor community arts festival celebrating place, culture, local talent, and creativity.  

REMIX

We partnered with the creative industries conference REMIX to present a stream of conversations on the future of public space and placemaking. “A Changing World” was the theme and we invited leading thinkers to help shape the conversation.
