Executive Safety Leadership Summit
Overview
The Executive Safety Leadership Summit is an opportunity for leaders from Local Government and Transport for NSW to establish a cohesive understanding of WHS due diligence obligations and embedding safety consistently across the board.
This executive event is Councils opportunity to hear about the learnings from the regional summits, what their people told us, where ideas and opinions on safety management have been captured from Councils across NSW.
The event is for Local Council executive leaders including:
- General Managers
- Directors
- Senior Executives
- Mayors
Topics include:
- Due diligence requirements
- Risk management
- Contractor safety management
- WHS legal update
When and where?
11-12 October 2023 at the Doltone House Darling Island, with a summit dinner being held at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf on the evening of Day 1.

8:30am – 4:00pm
Summit dinner 6:30pm - 10:00pm
Day 2
8:30am – 12:30pm
Why?
With more road works and transport projects occurring across the state than ever before, as leaders it is important that we get together to share ideas, information and improve work site safety.
Who?
The Executive Safety Leadership Summit is designed for Council General Managers, Mayors and Directors of Engineering or anyone who is a designated officer under the definition of the WHS Act NSW 2011.

The free 2-day event will feature guest speakers that will present on a variety of topics, including safety leadership culture, management systems and more.
Tom Grosskopf
As a natural collaborator Tom has built and nurtured alliances between government, business and the not-for-profit sectors in order to deliver exceptional results. An astute judge of risk and opportunity Tom has led policy reform and operational improvements at the state and national scale.
Amanda Gleeson
Amanda Gleeson is the Executive Director, Health and Safety in the Safety, Environment and Regulation Division at Transport for NSW. She is a Work Health and Safety professional with over 30 years of experience across government from Justice, SafeWork, Point to Point Transport Commission and Transport.
Alena Titterton
Alena Titterton is a partner at the global law firm Clyde & Co where her practice focuses on health, safety and security matters. She is recognised as a Leading Individual in health and safety in Legal 500 and was one of the architects of the recently released Due Diligence Index - Safety, an open source methodology for better health and safety performance reporting to senior leaders based on assessing an organisation’s safety capacity.
David Mulhall retired from the Australian Regular Army in 2019, serving in Australia and abroad for over 36 years. With a specialisation in logistics and nearly a decade in senior command appointments, David has deep experience in military operations, logistics and maintenance service delivery, commercial contracting, capability development, enterprise risk management, and Ministerial and Parliamentary relations.
Following his retirement, David was appointed through 2020 as the Senior Advisor (Defence Reform) to the Minister for Defence. David commenced providing strategic advice to corporate clients in early 2021, before joining the National COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force as the national lead for vaccination rollout to Australia’s disability sector and aged care workers.
Today David provides strategic advice to clients seeking to improve their service offerings and delivery performance. Clients include ASX listed companies, public-sector agencies, and not-for-profit organisations. He has been appointed as the Non-Executive Chair of the Birchtree Foundation (a mental health charity), as a Director on the Board of the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, and as an Independent Advisor to the Birdon Advisory Board
James Wood
