Dapto Station
Project overview
Platform extensions at Dapto Station are part of the More Trains, More Services program. The program is simplifying and modernising the rail network. It is creating high capacity, turn up and go services for many customers. It means customers can expect more frequent train services, less wait times and less crowding on a simpler and more reliable network.
At Dapto Station, we are extending the platforms to hold the new Intercity Fleet. The new 10-car Mariyung trains will improve comfort and convenience for intercity customers. For more information, see the Mariyung Fleet page.
Project scope
- extending Platform 1 by about 8 metres and Platforms 2 and 3 by about 30 metres to hold the longer intercity trains. Customers will be able to access to all carriages
- upgrading lighting, CCTV, the PA system, tactile paving and line marking for improve safety
- realigning and installing new overhead wiring and signalling equipment for the new trains
- rebuilding the maintenance building and modifying the track.
Customer benefits
- Following the introduction of the 2024 adjusted train timetable, the Rail Service Improvement Program will also make further adjustments to support the introduction of Mariyung trains on the South Coast Line.
- The Program will introduce more services on the South Coast Line, meaning a service every 15 minutes in the peak and every 30 minutes in the off peak between Wollongong and the Sydney CBD.
Project status
We completed the project in May 2023.
