Project overview

Platform extensions at Dapto Station are part of the More Trains, More Services program. The program is simplifying and modernising the rail network. It is creating high capacity, turn up and go services for many customers. It means customers can expect more frequent train services, less wait times and less crowding on a simpler and more reliable network.

At Dapto Station, we are extending the platforms to hold the new Intercity Fleet. The new 10-car Mariyung trains will improve comfort and convenience for intercity customers. For more information, see the Mariyung Fleet page.

Project scope

  • extending Platform 1 by about 8 metres and Platforms 2 and 3 by about 30 metres to hold the longer intercity trains. Customers will be able to access to all carriages
  • upgrading lighting, CCTV, the PA system, tactile paving and line marking for improve safety
  • realigning and installing new overhead wiring and signalling equipment for the new trains
  • rebuilding the maintenance building and modifying the track.

Customer benefits

  • More Trains, More Services will deliver 98 extra Mariyung fleet carriages across the intercity network
  • the South Coast will enjoy 42 extra carriages, which will see eight-car trains increased to 10 in peak hour.
