From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Transport for NSW worked with NSW Health to provide travel patterns and develop forecasts.

NSW Health used these insights to identify future, potential impacts of COVID-19 on the community and demands on the health system.
These findings helped inform Health advice and Public Heath Orders to work from home, travel only when necessary and reduce contact with the community as much as possible.
NSW Health’s modelling group needed data to understand the extent of changes to community mobility that could feed into the model and balance projections.
Transport provided travel patterns within and between local government authorities (LGAs) across end-to-end journeys, public transport and roads.
Continued sharing of community travel trends has allowed NSW Health to monitor changes and adjust the model, keeping the community informed and influencing health system planning throughout the pandemic.
