Transport for NSW will engage with the community to discuss modified design options that incorporate feedback from a 2014 consultation as part of the next phase of works.
Project information
Overview
Transport for NSW is proposing to upgrade 800 metres of Garfield Road between Denmark Road and Piccadilly Street in Riverstone to address increased traffic demand associated with the development of the North West Growth Area (NWGA), including the Marsden Park, Marsden Park North, West Schofields, and Riverstone precincts.
Benefits
The goal of this upgrade is to improve congestion in the area, particularly at the Riverstone rail level crossing, and provide safe and efficient access to the surrounding network.
Features
Key features of this project are:
- widening Garfield Road to four lanes (two lanes in each direction)
- a central median along the length of the road
- grade separation between Garfield Road and the Richmond train line at Railway Terrace, south of the Riverstone train station
- shared user paths.
- realignment of railway terrace to upgrade the existing Garfield Road -Riverstone Parade - Railway Terrace - intersection.
The project is divided in two stages following Strategic design:
Stage 1 includes:
- Realignment railway terrace to upgrade the existing Garfield Road – Riverstone Parade Railway Terrace intersection and associated works.
Stage 2 includes:
- Widening of Garfield Road
- Central median along Garfield Road
- Grade separation between Garfield Road and Richmond Rail line
- Provisions of shared user paths along Garfield Road
