April 2024 – Construction Update

Since our last update, we have built several key features of the east to west bridge link over the Hume Motorway. This work has included pouring of the concrete deck and installing the bridge safety barriers.

You will notice the project come together over the next few months as we continue with the final road resurfacing, permanent road signage and line-marking and switching traffic on to the newly built road.

February 2024 - changes to the 'Dust Bowl'

To improve motorway safety and complete Stage 1 of the Spring Farm Parkway, we will be adjusting the informal rest area known as the ‘Dust Bowl’. The changes to the Dust Bowl mean that heavy and light vehicles will no longer be able to use the Dust Bowl as a rest stop and will need to use an alternate location.

Space will be retained for Oversize Overmass (OSOM) vehicles.

The adjustments to the Dust Bowl will be in place from Thursday 29 February 2024.

Heavy and light vehicle users can view the alternate rest stops map here. Or visit Rest areas map (NSW).

Implementation will be supported by temporary and permanent variable message signs and information boards installed in the Dust Bowl containing relevant contact details and information. For further information please read our Frequently Asked Questions (PDF, 83.92 KB) fact sheet.

January 2024 - Construction Update and Time-lapse Video

Work is continuing to advance on Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1. The main drainage and service relocation works on Menangle Road have been completed.

The construction of the bridge over the Hume Motorway is progressing with the completion of the bridge piers and retaining walls to facilitate the installation and placement of the bridge girders.

On the western side, we have constructed an acceleration lane for the trucks to exit directly onto the Hume Motorway.

Jul 2023 – Construction Update

From September 2023, traffic travelling on Menangle Road will be moved onto an alternate section of the road. These important alignment changes will allow further construction activities on Menangle Road.
