Moss Vale Station and Stabling Yard Upgrade

Project overview

Detailed design, planning and heritage approvals are now underway for the Moss Vale Station and Stabling Yard upgrade.

The NSW Government is delivering an upgrade to Moss Vale Station and Stabling Yard to achieve Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (DSAPT) compliance and to accommodate the new Regional Rail fleet. 

The project will provide a station precinct that is accessible to those with a disability, limited mobility, parents/carers with prams and customers with luggage, while ensuring it aligns with Moss Vale’s transport needs. 

The project is expected to commence in early 2024.*

Key benefits

  • to improve access to the station include: installing lift access to the station from the existing footbridge

  • building a new kiss and ride zone and accessible parking spaces

  • installing bike racks and designated coach parking 

  • upgrading the bus stop 

  • installing tactile markers and boarding assistance zones on the platforms 

  • upgrading lighting and footpaths 

  • upgrading station power services, communications room, lighting and closed-circuit television (CCTV)

  • improving wayfinding and signage  

  • increasing stabling capacity to accommodate the new Regional Rail Fleet

  • modifying the configuration of the stabling yard to improve functionality and accessibility to the facilities

Project status 

Detailed design, planning and heritage approvals are now under way for the Moss Vale Station and Stabling Yard upgrade, with work to start in 2024.  

The consultation report was released for the Moss Vale transport improvements and station upgrade in September 2021. 

Next steps

Project History

The project aims to provide a station precinct that is accessible to those with a disability, limited mobility, parents/carers with prams and customers with luggage, while ensuring it aligns with Moss Vale’s transport needs.

Key features considered for the station upgrade include:

  • Improved access to the station, and in the station precinct for people who are mobility-impaired
  • Lift access to the station forecourt from the existing footbridge, tactile markers for the platforms and upgraded toilet facilities
  • Improved pedestrian bridge access to the station from Lackey Street
  • Improved access to the station from Argyle Street
  • Upgraded bus stop (Argyle Street) and improved access to the station via upgrades to footpaths and lighting at Jubilee Park
